A very popular rooms to rebuild are bathrooms, and with the right knowledge and amp; tools, you can do a bathroom cabinet fitting yourself. One of the most economical ways of adding style and storage to your bathroom is to add new bathroom cabinets. However there are a few things to keep in mind before undertaking your new vanity project which includes - material longevity and installation ease.
I am sure you don’t want to go through all the trouble to installing a cheap vanity or bathroom furniture that you will need to replace again in a year or two. So you should always install a vanity which is durable and made from quality materials. So make sure you select a vanity cabinet wood or material that has been tested to survive the humid conditions of a bathroom. Be sure to select a countertop that is water resistant or even waterproof preferably made of granite, marble, ceramic, wood or tempered glass. When you are deciding upon the vanity sink material, you can go for a vessel sink vanity or under-mounted variety preferably made of porcelain, stone, stainless steel, copper, or other materials. You may choose faucet fixtures to create your unique bathroom vanity look.
Of course, installing your new cabinet will be the most profitable to rebuild your bathroom. If you need a little help with the plumbing connections, do not hesitate to call a plumber for help. If you are confident enough in your own plumbing skills, just follow these simple steps to install your new vanity. First, be sure to cut water and disconnect water supply. Use a bucket to catch drops of water from the supply lines under the sink bathroom, and the p-trap, which is the curved white tube in the center.
Once your water is stopped and detached, untie the caulk between the bathroom cabinet and the wall. You can do this with a small utility knife. Make sure you dont scratch up your wall paint, otherwise you’ll have to undertake bathroom painting job next weekend! Carefully remove the sink countertop, watching that you don’t take half of the wall with it. You will need about 2 people to take the old countertop and bathroom cabinet down, so don’t plan to do this all by yourself.
You can use a normal screwdriver to loosen the screws that attach your bathroom cabinet to the wall. Carefully remove the old screws and dismount the old vanity. Again, this is not a one man’s job, so try to get an extra pair of hands to help you with this bathroom redecoration. In order to install the new cabinet look for the wall studs, and make some marks for new screw holes. Always remember to make your marks for the studs a little higher than where you actually want your new cabinet to be.
Once the cabinet has been positioned properly, try adding it to the wall using some wallboard screws. Now that you have installed the bathroom cabinet, and before you attach the new countertop, attach the new bathroom sink faucet. When you are attaching your cabinets and countertop, make sure you check that they are in complete level against the wall. You can use the tub-and-tile caulk to attach the new bathroom countertop to its base. The final step of installing your bathroom vanity is to reconnect the plumbing with Teflon tape, and to cautiously apply a very thin line of caulk around edges of your sink countertop.
