Digital music has changed the way we think about music and it is continuing to change the music industry. The internet is responsible for the majority of these changes as it holds great potential for the music business and as music is slowly switching to digital we will see some interesting changes fall into place.
With music switching to digital we have seen music become not only cheaper but a lot more affordable. Many people found that CDs were quite over priced and if you only wanted one particular song you had to buy the entire album to listen to it. This was a great inconvenience and it is only recently that music is becoming more digitalised in which we have seen online music stores in which there are literally millions of songs to choose from and instead of having to pay for a full album when we want a particular song we can get the individual song on its own. It is a fact that online music downloads are much cheaper to buy as opposed to buying a CD from a music store and we can already see how online music downloads are becoming more popular as a result of the figures. If we look at the iTunes music store statistics we will see that there are millions of downloads, many songs have been sold and people are evidently happy with their purchases.
Statistics have shown that digital music is growing in popularity, it is unknown as to whether digital music will progress and become the mainstream source, but as time goes by it is likely we will see some further advancements in the music scene.
